My Faith is Essential to the Church

I read on a blog somewhere that a youth pastor said the church is essential to their faith. That’s likely true, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. As I thought, my mind kept landing on my faith and its relationship to the church.

As a pastor, it’s easy for me to count on my own skills and leadership. I can learn to program for events and run a small group. But those don’t allow space for God’s work. Those are things I can easily do without God.

If I want real growth in the people I minister to, I have to let my faith be essential to the church. I have to depend on Jesus to do the work that I can’t. My faith as a church leaders is essential to the church. I simply must practice my faith in caring for the lives of people.

Thanks Paul for your thoughts! I can really see your point and I think it would be both. The church (the community of believers) is essential for my own faith development and my own faith is important to the churches growth. Thanks for helping me think that through!
